A Community Stronger Than Covid: Virtual Conference

June 13, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Our country is grappling with big issues this year: a global pandemic, and putting Americans back to work. Confronting our legacy of injustice. Navigating a big election. Although this time is painful and challenging, we see hope in the huge numbers of Americans making their voices heard in our democracy.

This weekend, our conference will focus on climate change. But throughout the conference, you’ll find many connections to the other issues of the day, such as:

  • “Thinking Forward on Race and America,” with John Wood Jr. from the organization Braver Angels, which works on depolarizing American politics
  • “Navigating Business Outreach in the Time of COVID,” with CCL’s National Outreach and Partnerships Coordinator Taylor Krause and members of the Business Climate Leaders action team
  • “How COVID and Carbon Pricing Affect Coal Communities,” with Brandon Dennison from Coalfield Development

The conference will also feature keynote remarks from Rachel Kyte of Tufts University, who formerly served as special representative of the U.N. secretary-general for Sustainable Energy for All and as World Bank Group vice president and special envoy for climate change. She has a message of encouragement and determination in the face of all the challenges we’re dealing with right now.
