“Get Off Our Necks”, A Car Caravan For Racial Justice
June 10, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Demand Justice With Us
Essex County Community Organization
What and When: Join us on Wednesday, June 10th at 5 PM outside the Salem Superior Court on Federal Street to begin our car caravan. We will stop at locations that represent injustice against people of color, calling out the knee on our collective neck and demanding action for justice and accountability. We will arrive at the Lynn common, park our cars, and kneel silently together for 8 minutes and 46 seconds – the amount of time that George Floyd’s kneck was pinned under the knee of the police officer who killed him.
How to prepare: Please wear black, and bring signs with the following phrases:
Get Off Our Neck!
Black Lives Matter in [your town]
We Demand Justice Now
We encourage you to hang these signs on your car during the caravan and hold them during the silent protest on the common.
Follow updates in the facebook event here, and invite your friends. We will in touch soon regarding route map, live-streaming, and staying connected during the car caravan.
Important Note: We will be making every effort to follow social distancing guidelines in order to protect public health. Therefore please wear a face mask during the entirety of the protest. When we are on the Lynn common we will arrange ourselves six feet apart and depart slowly in order to avoid overcrowding. Thank you for your commitment to protecting all of our health during this action.
With any questions, or to offer support with marshaling, art-making, or photography during the caravan and protest please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Yours in the struggle,
