Why did you go to the Vigil?
Taking part in the Vigil/ Walk was more empowering than just sitting with the pain of helplessness and the horror of watching the execution of George Floyd. It was just a place to take my anger and grief & try to walk off those inescapable questions about life, meaning and hope.
What I didn’t expect was the numbers of people that came on such short notice in the midst of a pandemic. Gathering with so many who cared and were willing to stand up and stand together to say the names and honor the litany of black lives lost to their families and our world was powerful.
Fighting for equality and justice in education, healthcare, housing will be an even better way to honor their lives.
